On August 14, across hundreds of schools in Los Angeles, UTLA educators and community gathered outside campuses to welcome students and families back on the first day of school with signs and 'Know Your Rights' leaflets. In response to a summer of escalating ICE raids that shook immigrant communities, both documented and undocumented, educators stood united to offer support and reassurance. Many students returned to school with fear, and some with family members missing. Teachers wanted them to know they are not alone, and that their schools remain places of safety, dignity, and resistance.
